Beautiful municipal facility. We laid to rest a loved one and the whole site is quiet and well cared for. An easy experience venue wise at a difficult time. The pool at the back of Charter Chapel is beautiful and it was especially so in the snow, in early January. The grounds are kept beautifully and I genuinely felt at peace being there.
Adding my Mum to a beautiful shady where her parents’ ashes were scattered. Such beautiful grounds. Really well taken care of
On the whole it’s a very well kept site, but it does have problems. The main bereavement services office is there and the staff are providing a very good service and the site on the whole is clean. BUT on some occasions we have been up there and the skips have not been emptied and they are overflowing with dead flowers taken off the graves. The biggest problem is especially dog walkers, many times (especially weekends) I have witnessed people walking their dogs in the cemetery because their dog can do what dogs do without the owner getting a £100 fine for fouling the pavement. If you have spent up to £800 for a memorial tree and a plaque or £2000 for a memorial bench for your loved one who has passed only to have an inconsiderate dog owner let Fido leave you something unpleasant on your memorial to your loved ones you would not be impressed. I have seen dog owners become EXTREMELY aggressive and threatening when called out for letting their dogs foul in the cemetery gardens. It’s more prevalent at weekends as there is no staff around. It’s probably because they don’t get a £100 fine like they would if they let their dog foul on the street.
Surprised by how nice it was after getting past the outer hedge rows. Is a little bit of nature, in an otherwise concrete jungle
The maintenance is atrocious in the furthest parts of the cemetery. The frequency at which the bins are emptied and the grass cut is nothing less than poor.
I attended a funeral service here on 21-6-2024. This is a very well kept site and our service was carried out with the very best of dignity. However. our sat nav took us in what seems to be a different entrance which was off Cannon Hill Road. The rest of the mourners appeared to have come in a different way and we had to rush to find the correct chapel. This could have been quite embarrassing as we were scheduled to read eulogies! Some signs closer to the car parking showing directions to the various chapels would have been appreciated.
