About the company

Canley Crematorium is operated by Coventry City Council. It has two chapels, named Cannon Hill and Charter, both of which are available for funeral and memorial services. Bookings can be made through a Funeral Director or directly by the person coordinating their own funeral arrangements. The allocated time for a booking is 45 minutes. The chapels have a specialised music system available, or an organist may be provided.

What customers say

Based on genuine customer reviews

Canley Crematorium, in Coventry, is described by those who have used its services as a quiet, well-maintained place for commemoration. Several reviewers note the careful upkeep of the grounds and gardens, with one describing a woodland area where family ashes were scattered as particularly beautiful. The site's chapels and surroundings are regularly praised for their peaceful atmosphere, offering a sense of separation from the busy city nearby. A recurring theme in the feedback is the dignity with which services are conducted, whether for cremation or burial.

The bereavement services team, and one member of staff in particular, is singled out for handling arrangements with respect and without judgment, helping families with difficult decisions. Reviewers also mention the option of holding a full service on site or using the crematorium following a service elsewhere. Practical points include the size of the grounds and the variety of entrances, which some visitors found confusing. The condition of individual plots and the tidiness of the gardens come up often, with families expressing appreciation for the care taken over their loved ones' resting places.

Beautiful municipal facility. We laid to rest a loved one and the whole site is quiet and well cared for. An easy experience venue wise at a difficult time. The pool at the back of Charter Chapel is beautiful and it was especially so in the snow, in early January. The grounds are kept beautifully and I genuinely felt at peace being there.

On the whole it’s a very well kept site, but it does have problems. The main bereavement services office is there and the staff are providing a very good service and the site on the whole is clean. BUT on some occasions we have been up there and the skips have not been emptied and they are overflowing with dead flowers taken off the graves. The biggest problem is especially dog walkers, many times (especially weekends) I have witnessed people walking their dogs in the cemetery because their dog can do what dogs do without the owner getting a £100 fine for fouling the pavement. If you have spent up to £800 for a memorial tree and a plaque or £2000 for a memorial bench for your loved one who has passed only to have an inconsiderate dog owner let Fido leave you something unpleasant on your memorial to your loved ones you would not be impressed. I have seen dog owners become EXTREMELY aggressive and threatening when called out for letting their dogs foul in the cemetery gardens. It’s more prevalent at weekends as there is no staff around. It’s probably because they don’t get a £100 fine like they would if they let their dog foul on the street.

Surprised by how nice it was after getting past the outer hedge rows. Is a little bit of nature, in an otherwise concrete jungle

The maintenance is atrocious in the furthest parts of the cemetery. The frequency at which the bins are emptied and the grass cut is nothing less than poor.

I attended a funeral service here on 21-6-2024. This is a very well kept site and our service was carried out with the very best of dignity. However. our sat nav took us in what seems to be a different entrance which was off Cannon Hill Road. The rest of the mourners appeared to have come in a different way and we had to rush to find the correct chapel. This could have been quite embarrassing as we were scheduled to read eulogies! Some signs closer to the car parking showing directions to the various chapels would have been appreciated.
