Martin & Sons

Martin & Sons is a memorial masonry business based in Plymouth, Devon. It was founded in 1909 as specialist memorial masons and has remained a family business ever since. The firm has specialised in headstones and gravestones since 1909. It offers a full range of granite, slate and stone related services and products. Its memorial services include churchyard and marble memorials, cemetery memorials, children's memorials, book memorials, cremation memorials and kerbstone memorials.

Anyone commissioning a new memorial, or adding a name to an existing headstone, describes a process that feels manageable from start to finish. Several customers highlight the friendly, knowledgeable advice offered when choosing stone, with a wide selection of products available, and one mentions a piece of slate supplied for a home project. The quality of the finished work comes up often: headstones and lettering are described as looking new or outstanding, and the installation itself is praised as well executed.

Reviews regularly refer to how efficiently jobs were completed, including instances where extra effort was made to finish quickly. Members of staff are named warmly, among them Chris, Rita and Rob, alongside the wider team, for their understanding manner and steady guidance, including help with composing a personal inscription. Fair, competitive pricing is noted, as is the patience shown when decisions are difficult. The expertise of a long-established masonry business comes through in accounts of lettering added to existing stones and of memorials restored to a fresh appearance.
