What a fantastic service I have received for Jeremy and Emmie of Northern Headstones. The communication was fantastic, the cost was brilliant and the headstone is absolutely beautiful with all the detail I requested. Would really recommend to anybody. Thank you for making this process easy.

Our mother died 2023, we have used Northern Headstones, for both our parents, the interaction from beginning to end has been exceptional, Emmie has been sensitive, accommodating and friendly and when required goes above and beyond during this sensitive journey 5 stars would gladly recommend attention to details, our parents have beautiful resting places, we are extremely pleased we have done our parents proud, lovely to visit and be at peace.

I am so happy with the outcome of my daughter’s half-curb headstone. If this is your first time purchasing a headstone for a loved one, I would absolutely recommend Northern Headstones. I also wanted to leave a few helpful tips for anyone going through this process, because there were things I wish I had known beforehand. First of all, before ordering any headstone from any masonry company, speak to your local council or cemetery office and ask what type of memorial is allowed on your grave plot. I discovered there is a big difference between a standard grave and a traditional grave, and this affects whether you can have a curb set headstone installed. You will be asked what type of plot/grave you have installed so make sure you look at your paperwork prior to calling. In my case, because I didnt check before hand, I had to upgrade my plot from standard to traditional before the permit could be approved for my daughter’s half-curb headstone. This involved an additional council fee (roughly £300–£400 depending on the council), which had absolutely nothing to do with Northern Headstones. Jeremy, Emmy, and the team were incredibly kind, professional, and supportive throughout the process and made it as stress-free as possible. They guided me through everything and handled all of the paperwork side — all I really had to do was call up the council and pay them a fee which automatically approves the requested permit, outside of ordering the head stone. My permit was initially denied because I didn’t know this beforehand, but once the plot was upgraded, approval came through in less than 48 hours. I’m sharing this because it may help other grieving families avoid unnecessary stress and anxiety. Every council has different rules, so this isn’t something the company can automatically know for every customer. Its for us to check before hand. Either way their staff will support you with this process. Another important thing to understand is weather delays, especially during winter. I remember being told that frozen ground can make it impossible and unsafe to install headstones. At the time, with newborn twins and grief, I honestly forgot this had been explained to me more than once. But it’s true — if the soil is frozen solid, no masonry company can safely dig or fit a memorial properly. As frustrating as the waiting can be when you just want your loved one’s resting place completed, this is not the fault of the company. It’s simply nature and safety. I paid in instalments, which many people do, and by the time my balance was paid off it was still winter. I found myself calling often asking when installation would happen, but looking back, I completely understand why exact dates couldn’t always be given. The team still responded to my emails and calls, kept me updated, and always explained what was happening. I’ve seen some negative reviews mentioning communication, but personally, I did not experience that at all. Every time I emailed, I received a response, and whenever they missed a call, I was updated afterwards. Grief can understandably make emotions and anxiety much heavier during this process, but in my experience the staff were attentive, caring, and genuinely doing their best. Most importantly, the finished headstone is absolutely beautiful, and I have no regrets whatsoever. The care and compassion shown to my family is something I will never forget. This is a company I would trust again and again for my family in the future. They truly go above and beyond, even while balancing their own personal lives. If I had known everything I know now, my anxiety throughout the process would have been much lower. Again this has nothing to do with Northern Headstones. I literally live almost 100 miles from Leeds. Hopefully this review helps someone else going through the same difficult journey. I hope my words have been helpful to all and thank you from mines to yours Jeremy and Emmie. You guys deserve everything good God has to offer you in this life and the next. God Bless you all, Agape love Always.

After so many years, finally getting this headstone completed was such a relieving and emotional experience for our family. It meant more to us than we can really put into words. Emmie and Jeremy were incredibly patient throughout the entire process. We went back and forth quite a bit with questions and changes, and at times we were very indecisive, but they never made us feel rushed or like a burden. Their customer service is truly excellent—they listened, understood, and made us feel seen every step of the way. What really stood out was how much creative freedom they gave us. We really wanted an angel between the heart, they allowed us to design something that felt personal and meaningful, and the final result is so unique and beautiful. Every detail came together perfectly, and it feels like a true reflection of our loved ones. We are so grateful for their care, compassion, and craftsmanship. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for something special Big Thanks Abbigale & Christina
