The Modern Funeral

Gitte and Jackie did a wonderful job co-ordinating our father’s funeral, and took care of everything very professionally. The build-up and actual day went as well as we could have hoped. We felt very comfortable making choices with their sensitive and thoughtful guidance.

We cannot thank the team enough for the care, compassion, and support they showed our family at such a difficult time. From the beginning, they were kind, thoughtful, and genuinely invested in understanding who Rob was as a person. They took great care to read through emails and materials provided by our family in order to gain a true sense of his life, his character, and what he meant to others. This was reflected beautifully in the service itself. All the arrangements were handled smoothly and with sensitivity, and Gitte’s role as celebrant was outstanding. She brought Rob’s unique character and experiences to life in a way that truly resonated. Since the funeral, we have received many messages from attendees saying how special and meaningful the service was. We are deeply grateful for the professionalism, compassion, and care shown throughout, and would highly recommend them.

The service of my sister-in-law’s funeral was beautiful, touching, dignified and fitting. From our first meeting, Jackie and Gitte’s compassionate approach has guided us through what was a very difficult period. We had no idea what we needed to do and their thoughtful advice really helped us shape the day for my sister-in-law and the family. They were so patient with all of our questions, no matter how minor, and suggestions like weaving small parts of the coffin made it special for the children. We cannot thank them enough and the day would not have been the same without their help.

I highly recommend the Modern Funeral Company. Jackie and Gitte are a wonderful team. They truly tailor your loved ones final farewell, genuinely care about the family and the the deceased. I was so impressed when I received the gentle call to say they had taken my husband into their care, that gave me such peace knowing they had him and would look after him. Their office in Preston Park is like walking into a friend's sitting room, not a traditional funeral directors office, it's beautiful, calm, warm and welcoming. The modern funeral company will genuinely tailor the occasion to the late persons wishes. We wanted a far less traditional service, a real celebration of life with no stuffy rules and regulations. There was no heavy selling of their services, lots of good advice and guidance throughout a very difficult time and always available for questions and tweaks to what we wanted. We loved the fact that it's an all female leadership team, both Gitte and Jackie are celebrants and I would highly recommend them both, such lovely and kind women. They both got to know us as a family and more importantly my late husband. I knew he was in safe, kind and compassionate hands. The humanist service they delivered was so beautiful, calm and incredibly well organised, they really do know their stuff. On such an emotionally charged day they looked after us all and I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending them. Thank you both , you made the hardest day of our lives easier, took all the the organisational stresses away from us and our final farewell incredibly beautiful.

Thoughtful, kind, compassionate and professional- would have no hesitation to strongly recommend for anyone planning a funeral for someone they love. The communication was great throughout and we had various potentially complex (some might say odd) requests for the funeral of our beloved father- everything was explained and accommodated- the service and overall experience far outweighed any expectation I had.
