Pangbourne-based SPB Stoneworks has built a reputation among families in and around Reading for memorial masonry carried out with care and precision. The recurring theme across feedback is the quality of the finished headstone itself, whether a new memorial, the refacing of an existing stone to add a further inscription, or the removal, cleaning and re-lettering of a grave marker. Several customers describe how Simon and Joyce guided them through the process, with artwork proofs sent for approval and details clarified at each stage, and reviewers repeatedly mention that messages were answered quickly and that the finished result matched what had been agreed.

The hand-carved natural stone work and the accuracy of the lettering and texture are singled out, and one family noted that work arranged largely by email, with two calls to confirm the design, was completed without them needing to travel. Competitive pricing, an unhurried and personal manner, and the willingness to listen to what a family wants come up often, and the same names appear again and again as the people who made a difficult time easier.
